Caught Aussie band Empire of the Sun tonight. Was expecting a couple of dour dudes crouched over analogue synths, but turned out to be a show worthy of the Scissor Sisters…
Canon Photography Competition Winners
I didn’t enter this one, partly because the categories were really challenging, and I didn’t have time to do it justice.
Very imaginative competition, with five categories of Splat, close Up (which had to use Hundreds and thousands cake toppings), Bokeh (and utilising an out of focus star effect, Portraiture and Practically Black
Music – bumper crop of gigs coming up
Lily Allen, Camera Obscura, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, John Cale of the Velvet Underground are all due to play Sydney in January.
The shot on the left is a shot of the Velvet Underground, the original line-up with John Cale on the right. This gets my vote as the best photograph of the all time coolest rock band
